Non-profit organization dedicated to increasing access to the arts for all children and adults in Pamlico County
The Heritage Center encompasses a museum, visitor center, and heritage village centered around the themes of farming, fishing, and forestry, which are the three economic bases of Pamlico County. The center ensures the preservation of local history and its people whose lives were shaped by rich soils, abundant forests, and numerous waterways.
The mission of the Pamlico Musical Society is to present diverse musical experiences that enrich the quality of life in our community.
You’ll find The Old Theater at 609 Broad Street in the heart of Oriental, North Carolina. The building first opened as a movie theater in 1945 and served as a social and entertainment center until the late 1950s. It was revitalized and reopened in 1995 and today provides a venue where performing arts can thrive in Pamlico County. The Old Theater is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, with a Board of Directors comprised of Pamlico County volunteers whose mission is to ensure that Pamlico County and the town of Oriental has a venue for civic and cultural events. In addition to our Friday Flicks and theatrical productions, The Old Theater is the home stage for Pamlico Musical Society, Children's Theater Workshop, the Pamlico Chorale and Pamlico Community Band. It is also available to rent for your next event.
