Visit Mesic

Settled before the Revolutionary War, this predominantly African American community was started in the early 1860's and was incorporated in 1971.

Once known as Bay Creek, in 1872 when Pamlico County was established, the  community was named after S.R. Messick, who was the first postmaster.
